Artist's Comments

Patience serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold. For if you put on more clothes as the cold increases, it will have no power to hurt you. So in like manner you must grow in patience when you meet with great wrongs, and they will then be powerless to vex your mind.
-- Leonardo da Vinci

Comments: This is the complete opposite, in almost every way, to Those Hills.

I shot this from near the top of the ridge overlooking Powell's Valley and St. Paul's church from the north, whereas the other shot was from the southern tern edge of the valley. Also, this shot highlights the browns of the deadened winter landscape with a light snowy covering, whereas the other was bright and green and warm.

I love how the way the ground is cultivated shows its contours off. And the contrasting colors are so cool. Very nice shot!!!

That's one thing... when I came to Pennsylvania to interview, I took a long drive through the country... when I topped the mountain overlooking this valley, I pulled to the side of the road and soaked it in... springtime green (June) everything growing, the layers and patchwork of fields and farmlands. I decided then that this wasn't so bad a place to be. I moved here more for that than for the job itself.
